A restriction level needs its local instructions
Boyd Lake's reviewed notice reports Stage 1 restrictions through November 3, 2026 and links to detailed county guidance. Mancos reports a ban on wood-burning campfires until the county lifts its restriction, with charcoal and gas grilling confined to designated facilities. Read the current rule for your destination and appliance. A familiar restriction name alone does not establish that a particular fire or stove is permitted.

Some campsites prohibit fires as a standing rule
Lory's backcountry sites prohibit fires and permit small camp stoves. The same camping information says there is no water at the sites and everything needed must be carried in and out. These are campsite-specific arrangements, separate from a temporary county ban. Check the operator's requirements before packing fuel or choosing a cooking method, and follow any stricter instructions in effect when you arrive.
Forest work can close access without a wildfire
Meyer Ranch is fully closed for forest-health work, with an estimated completion in spring 2027. At State Forest, mitigation work closes Michigan Ditch Trail and portions of American Lakes Trail through late fall. These notices describe work areas and access restrictions; they do not say an active wildfire is burning. Respect the affected boundaries and choose another destination or route where the managing agency permits access.

Check the source again before departure
The Boyd Lake notice has a stated end date, while the Mancos wood-fire ban remains tied to an official lifting of the ban. Treat those time descriptions differently. A date on this directory records the reviewed evidence; it does not confirm that a restriction ended, that a road reopened or that conditions are safe. Follow the official park and county links for the decision that applies to your visit.
